Maybe not every Laker fan is excited about LeBron James coming to town.
A fan online offered money to anyone in the Los Angeles area who would be willing to ruin the mural made in LeBron's honor, and it looks like someone got the job done.
The three-time NBA Champion signed a four year, $154 million contract with the Lakers in free agency after coming off a historic season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Playing all 82 games for the Cavs, LeBron led the league in minutes played per game despite being 33 years old. He averaged 27.5 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.6 rebounds per game to carry Cleveland to an appearance in the NBA Finals, where they were swept by the Golden State Warriors. LeBron chose to come to Los Angeles after also considering a number of other intriguing destinations.
As seen in the pictures, the fan spray-painted the phrases, "we don't want you," "3-6," and "NO KING" on the mural. It's unfathomable why any NBA franchise would not want a generational talent like James on their team.
"3-6" refers to LeBron's career win-loss record in the NBA Finals, while "NO KING" could be referring to the fact that some of the Lakers faithful still prefers to cheer Kobe Bryant over LeBron, but who knows?
LeBron's departure to the Western Conference worked on both fronts, as it will allow a sans-LeBron team to make the finals from the Eastern Conference for the first time since 2009, as well as providing the Warriors some additional competition out west.
Perhaps once this fan realizes all the good this move has done for the NBA, they might not consider ruining the mural next time.
